Boulevard – Cherries Jubilee – barrel aged fruited Belgian style quadrupel

Boulevard continues to pump out great and unique barrel aged beers with this Belgian style quad that was brewed with cherries and aged in apple brandy barrels. It pours an almost opaque caramel brown color with a light red hue and a small, foamy, light tan head. On the nose you get a caramel aroma up front, along with a slightly boozy character, followed brady malts and then light cherry and Belgian yeast esters in the background. The beer has a medium-heavy body with a bright medium-light carbonation, and a lightly smooth mouth feel before finishing slightly dry. The palate mirrors the nose with this beer while the boozy character lingers just a little bit. Review by Dan Chacon

New Image – Shut Up Mike – west coast style double IPA

You know, I do enjoy doing these beer reviews, but I'm really only here for the zipline. I'm guessing the man on the can is "Mike". I'm also going to assume this man really liked west coast double IPAs. After some research, it seems New Image hasn't made one in over a year, so thank you Mike for pestering the good people over there until they made another one. This is a sneaky double IPA at 8.3%. Its aroma and taste are subtle. The beer pours an almost copper color which is representative of its slightly malty body that really balances out the traditional west coast dankness. I also get some solid passionfruit notes on the nose and body that are more predominant as it warms up. With a nice, clean and crisp finish, this is one of the easier-drinkin' west coast double IPAs I've ever had. I'll try not to yank on the rope so hard next time, Mike. (I hope at least one of you will get the reference). Review by Daniel Trouwborst

Living the Dream – Coconut Stout – flavored American stout

This stout pours a near black color with a large, light head that fades quickly leaving a pleasant, sweet scent of coconut and milk sugar, followed by a light chocolate finish. On first taste you get a slightly sweet coconut and cream flavor that has some tropical fruit notes. After that settles you get a light, almost smokey and chocolatey malt character. Overall, this is a light to medium bodied stout that is very easy drinking with just enough sweetness. Review by Stefan Walberg

Martin House – Strawberry Cream Pie – fruited & flavored kettle sour

Next up in Martin House’s “Cream Pie” line of sours is this strawberry variant. It pours a translucent golden color with a very light reddish hue and a medium sized fizzy white head. A big burst of strawberry and graham cracker hit your nose upon opening the can, even from a distance. Upon nosing the glass, you get a lighter aroma of strawberries coupled with a tart sour ale character, followed by vanilla, light grainy malts, and lighter graham cracker. The body sits at a medium weight with a bright medium-light carbonation, creating a lightly creamy mouth feel. Lighter strawberry, vanilla, and graham cracker notes hit your tongue up front, followed by lightly bitter, grainy malts and that tart sour characteristic. The sour character continues into the finish where light strawberry flavors resurface. Review by Dan Chacon

New Terrain – Tmave Pivo – Czech style dark lager

"Tmave Pivo" directly translates to "dark beer", and this is certainly that. Almost completely black in color with an ever so slight brown hue, this is a beautiful beer that is poured with a compact, bubbly head. True to form, this Czech dark lager has a nice roasted malt flavor that mixes with notes of toffee and caramel. It is full of flavor, but with a pleasantly light body that finishes with a nice, crisp mouthfeel. Not much more to say about this beer, which in this case is a good thing. This is a very true-to-style (though the style may not be common) Czech dark lager. A nice alternative to other, heavier dark beers like stouts and porters, I'll be drinking this one again. Dogfish Head – Covered in Nuggs – American IPA

At first glance, this IPA has a thick head that is surprisingly persistent, and the color is a beautifully clear gold. The aroma is classic with dank hop notes and a touch of malt sweetness. Upon tasting it, the first thing you notice is that the flavor is lighter and much more balanced than the aroma. The expected resinous hop notes are balanced with some citrus and malt sweetness. This is a medium bodied flavorful IPA that is very approachable. Review by Stefan Walberg
