RAR Brewing – Juicy Nectar – fruited American IPA
RAR Brewing out of Cambridge, Maryland are quickly gaining a good name for themselves out here. They’ve been in business since mid-2013 though. Grab yourself some stock of the few beers we currently have from them while they last, as they do not have full time distribution here. This particular beer from them pours a translucent, deep gold color with an orange hue and a small, lightly foamy, white head. The nose is bold, but not overpowering, with aromas of mango and orange, backed by earthy hops. It has a medium weight body with a surprisingly light carbonation level and a moderately dry finish. On the palate you get notes of mango up front, followed by grainy malts on the mid-palate. Semi-sweet orange flavors surface towards the tail end which morph into more bitter orange zest, along with moderately bitter, earthy hops before dropping off dry. Review by Dan Chacon

Burlington Beer Co – Lime Canyon – Mexican style lager w/ lime
Not one to be left out of the trend, Burlington Beer Co is putting their name in the proverbial hat for Mexican lagers with lime. Out of the gate it pours a very hazy gold color with a very active head that gives a light lime aroma as well as just a hint of bready sweetness. The flavor is a bit downplayed with a good lime edge upfront that moves to a light malt sweetness, with a slightly heavier mouth feel. Overall, this is a good light lager with a refreshing lime twist, and a crisp refreshing finish. Review by Stefan Walberg

Weldwerks – Pink Lemonade Shandy – fruited kettle sour
Another week, another shandy. Although this is an unconventional one being a kettle sour base. Weldwerks brewing an unconventional beer? Weird! Haha! This beer pours a cloudy pinkish-peach color with a small, fizzy white head that dissipates almost immediately. The nose is pretty straight-forward with aromas of pink lemonade, bready malts, and that citrusy tart character expected from a kettle sour. It has a medium-light body, with a light carbonation level making it really easy to drink, even for a sour ale. The palate mirrors the nose with this beer. It’s light and refreshing like you would expect a shandy to be, with that twist of citrus tartness and sour yeast character. Review by Dan Chacon

Horse & Dragon – Dino Hop – American IPA
Not a brewery that I typically think of for hoppy beers, and I can't specifically say that I have tried an IPA from horse and dragon before. That being said, this American IPA pours a very clear and surprisingly amber color, with a very moderate head. The aroma is underlined with some grapefruit and citrus hop elements as well as a mild malt sweetness. The flavor is big with citrus grapefruit and lemon as well as a mild pine hop character. That, balanced out with a strong malt backbone and some toast bread, come together to make a very rich, flavorful beer. Review by Stefan Walberg
