Crooked Stave / Our Mutual Friend - Hop the Plank - New England style hazy IPA

Here we have yet another great collaboration brew from two of Denver’s premiere local breweries! This IPA pours a hazy, pale orange color with a large, dense and foamy white head. On the nose you get aromas of tangerine and raspberry up front, followed by dank and piney hops with a grainy malt base. It has a medium-heavy body with a medium level of carbonation. The palate is a bit different than the nose on this one. Notes of watermelon hit your tongue first, along with the dank piney characteristics of the hops. A citrusy lemon flavor comes through on the mid-palate along with some grainy malts, while a light red berry flavor surfaces on the finish with a mild amount of bitterness. Review by Dan Chacon

Crystal Springs - Cranberry Blood Orange Kolsch - fruited German style ale

Today we'll be taking a look at a lovely fruited Kolsch from Crystal Springs Brewing company, the Cranberry Blood Orange Kolsch! This beer pours with a mellow white head that disappears quickly, a light red color, and a fizzy carbonation. The scent features intensely aromatic blood orange peel along with light notes from the grain structure. The scent and the flavor work together well, a rich orange scent bolstering the clean grainy flavors blended with sweet and tart fruit, for a fantastic combination. The first sip showcases the crisp, refreshingly grainy Kolsch body, as it opens up on the palate, with acidic blood orange and a lightly tart cranberry on the finish. Great quality and exceptional flavor make this a great beer and a great buy! And is it really ever a bad time to drink a Kolsch? Review by Jon Blankenship

Tigre Oscuro - Mexican style amber lager

Mexican style lagers are at a height of popularity now, so it would only make sense that Mexican style amber lagers would be popular during the colder winter months (hence the multiple breweries releasing beers of the style). This particular one from the great brewers at New Image, pours a translucent, dark reddish-amber color with a large, foamy, light tan head. On the nose you get lightly roasted malts and bold lager yeast esters along with light citrus and green coffee aromas accenting. The body sits at a medium weight with a medium-light carbonation and a slightly crisp finish. The palate mirrors the nose on this beer, with an added lightly sweet caramel note mid-palate, while finishing lightly bitter and dry. Review by Dan Chacon
