Martin House – Tropical Nuke Juice – fruited imperial sour

This brewery never ceases to come up with great adjunct combinations for their sours and stouts. This particular imperial sour is brewed with the tropical goodness of banana and mango. It pours a lightly cloudy golden-orange color with a small foamy white head which dissipates fairly quickly. On the nose you get bold aromas of banana and mango like a delicious tropical punch, accented with a lemony citrus character and hints of bready malts. It has a medium weight body with a bright, medium level carbonation and a lightly dry finish for the style. The palate is a bit tamer than the nose, however. Light notes of banana hit your tongue up front, followed by a balanced mix of mango and lemon on the mid-palate. The citrusy lemon carries into the finish, and you get light bitter and boozy elements here as well, followed by some more light banana on the exhale. Review by Dan Chacon

Lone Tree – Czech Pilsner – Czech style pilsner

One of my favorite styles of beer (especially in the summer) is a Czech Pilsner. This is a new offering from Lone Tree Brewing. This beer resembles a Czech Pilsner but falls just a little flat. I may be spoiled with the Pilsner Urquells and Trumer Pils of the world. This beer pours a nice, deep gold, almost copper color. There is a light, wheaty, almost white bread-like nose. The body is very light and very dry, which keeps bringing me back for more. This beer also has a very straightforward lager taste: bready, crisp, slightly malty. I would prefer a little more complexity in a Czech Pilsner, but there is a place for this one. With summer coming up, and at a modest 4.5%, this would be a great warm-weather beer to drink on your porch or at the park! Review by Daniel Trouwborst

More / Revolution – 800-588-2TREE00 – west coast style IPA

Some may claim that beer names are getting ridiculous these days, and this beer is here to back up this claim, to the point that I'm still not sure what the name of this one actually is. Coming from someone who doesn't watch a lot of TV, even I recognize the jingle (from a commercial that apparently first aired in 1977). That being said, this west coast IPA pours a clear, rich amber color with a very active head composed of small bubbles that cling to the glass. The flavor is big with dank hop notes, pine and resin with an underplayed pretzel flavor as well as some more earthy notes that come together into a very semi-sweet hop bomb of a beer. This is a great example of the style and one that I will certainly be coming back to. Review by Stefan Walberg

Enegren – Valkyrie – German style Altbier

If you are unfamiliar with Enegren Brewing, think of them as the Prost or Bierstadt of California. They are producing great German style beers! So, if that is your style type, definitely give some of their beers a try. This Altbier pours a very dark, ruby hued amber color with a small foamy light tan head. The nose is a balanced mix of caramel, toasted dark honey bread, and German yeast esters. The body sits at a medium weight with a medium light carbonation and an almost silky mouth feel. The palate mirrors the nose with an added moderately bitter and earthy hop presence on the finish. Nothing fancy here, just a well brewed, true to style, Altbier. Review by Dan Chacon

Outer Range – In the Deep Steep – New England style hazy double IPA

Oh, Outer Range, how I love you. These guys at Outer Range are heavyweights when it comes to making incredible Hazy IPAs. I've seen this particular one in the past, but this is my first chance to try it. It does not disappoint! Big, juicy notes of orange, pine, passionfruit, and dankness hit you hard in the nose (in the best way possible). I forgot to mention this is a Double IPA. This is one of the more full-bodied IPAs that I have ever tried. There are intense flavors of orange, pine, passionfruit, and wait a minute. I've already said this. I love it when the beer's flavors match the beer's nose. It makes writing these reviews easy. This Double IPA kind of surprises me with how sweet it is. But, at 9% it makes sense. Without being overly bitter, this is an intense yet not overwhelming addition to all the incredible IPAs I've had from these guys. Review by Daniel Trouwborst

Woods Boss – Pulaski – American pecan brown ale

For a brown ale this pours a shockingly dark obsidian color with a large brown head that fades fairly quickly, leaving a strong caramel and pecan aroma. The flavor matches with a strong upfront sweet flavor of pecan and caramel with some tasty bread notes as well as a spacious smokey character that leaves a crisp dryness on the palette. Overall, this is a very classic example of a brown ale with big, sweet notes as well as more roasty and malt flavors. This would make a perfect desert beer. Review by Stefan Walberg
