Ommegang – Grande Tripel – flavored Belgian style tripel
Ommegang has done a great job here with mixing tradition and innovation by adding coffee and vanilla to this Belgian style tripel. It pours a cloudy, burnt orange color with a large, dense and foamy, off-white head. On the nose you get aromas of semi-sweet coffee, pear, light vanilla, and strangely, hints of caramel. The body and carbonation both sit at a medium level, and it has a slightly dry finish for the style. Grainy malt flavors hit your palate first, followed by lightly sweet, yet bitter, coffee notes. The Belgian yeast comes through mid-palate, along with notes of pear, while the vanilla comes in on the finish with more bitter coffee. Review by Dan Chacon
Avery – Brightpeak IPA – American IPA
This IPA pours a clear, golden yellow with a small, fleeting white head. The aroma is bright, with light grapefruit notes and a hint of pine. On the taste, the grapefruit flavor is crisp and refreshing, offering a gentle citrus punch without being overwhelming. The bitterness is mild, creating a clean and dry finish. It’s a light, easy-drinking IPA with a perfect balance of grapefruit zest and hop character, making it both refreshing and approachable. Review by Stefan Walberg
4 Noses – You Grow, Girl! fifth edition – fruited gose sour
For the fifth edition of “You Grow, Girl!”, the women of 4 Noses have brought the Montmorency cherry, key lime, and sea salt combination back as it was a popular one. This beer pours a semi cloudy, reddish-orange color with a large, fizzy, lightly pink hued head. On the nose you get light aromas of sweet cherry and tart lime, followed by tart and a little funky yeast esters and hints of grainy malts. The body sits at a medium-light weight while the carbonation is at a medium level and fairly bright, giving the beer some pop. The palate mirrors the nose on this beer and the slight funkiness of the yeast lingers briefly before the cherry resurfaces, rounding out the finish. Review by Dan Chacon
Wiley Roots – Breakfast at Wiley’s: Dutch Cocoa Vanilla Coffee – flavored oatmeal stout
This mocha coffee stout pours a deep, nearly black color with a thick, mocha-colored head that sticks around. The aroma is a nice mix of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of spice, maybe a touch of cinnamon, that adds a bit of extra depth. On the taste, the coffee flavor really shines, offering bold, roasted notes that pair well with the smooth, creamy chocolate flavor. The bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the chocolate balance each other nicely, and there's just a subtle hint of spice that adds a bit of extra character. The full body gives it a rich, smooth mouthfeel, with a satisfying finish. It’s a solid, well-balanced stout with great coffee, chocolate, and spice elements. Review by Stefan Walberg
3 Floyds – Dreadnaught – double IPA
This monster of a double IPA pours a cloudy bronze color with a large, dense and foamy, off-white head which leaves a heavy lacing in the glass. On the nose you get aromas of tangerine and peaches, followed by earthy and slightly dank hops, along with some grainy malts. It has a medium-heavy body with a medium-light carbonation, resulting in a slightly smooth mouth feel. On the front of the palate, you get notes of peach and honeydew melon, while the earthy and dank hop character comes through on the mid-palate. Citrusy tangerine rind comes through on the finish and lingers a bit with a moderate amount of bitterness. Review by Dan Chacon
Prost – Helles Lager – German style pale lager
This traditional Helles lager pours a clear, bright gold with a soft, white head that fades smoothly. The aroma is clean and inviting, with a light malt sweetness and subtle bready notes, complemented by a hint of floral hops. On the palate, the beer is incredibly refreshing, with a crisp, smooth malt backbone that offers a touch of biscuit-like sweetness. The mild hop bitterness provides balance, while the clean finish leaves you wanting another sip. The body is light, making it incredibly easy to drink. It’s a well-crafted, classic Helles that delivers a bright, refreshing flavor perfect for any occasion. Review by Stefan Walberg
